Laser Ablation of Spider Veins
Subfacial Endoscopic Perforator Surgery (SEPS)
Endovenous Laser Therapy (ELT)
Endovenous laser treatment (ELT) is a simple outpatient procedure that is used to treat bulging varicose veins. This revolutionary laser vein treatment does not require surgery and can be completed in less than an hour in our Phoenix facility, which is conveniently located near Tempe and Scottsdale.
Using local anesthesia and with the assistance of ultrasound, we will insert a small catheter into the affected vein(s) and thread a thin laser into the catheter. The energy from the laser will cause the vein to close. The procedure is painless and takes about 30-45 minutes to complete. Over the next several months, the affected veins will begin to disappear.
All that is required to seal up the small puncture(s) is a small dressing. This should be worn for several days and then replaced with compression hose that should be worn over the next several weeks. Our EVLT procedure allows most patients to resume their normal activities the following day and a follow-up appointment is usually scheduled one to two weeks later.
The procedure will not usually leave any scars and a speedy recovery period provides nearly instant relief from the pain associated with varicose veins. Any minor soreness or bruising that occurs during the recovery period can usually be treated with over-the-counter pain medication.
This treatment is very effective in treating large veins that may be causing discomfort and is much simpler than having surgery. If you think you could benefit from our laser vein treatment in Phoenix, please contact the Southwest Vein & Laser Institute for your consultation, which will typically be paid for by your insurance.
